About Chatterous
We run Chatterous with one priority: privacy-first chatting that feels welcoming, transparent, and simple to join.
Identity and accounts
- No real-name requirement. Pick a nickname or chat ID; that is your identity here.
- Email is optional. We don’t require a real email address to participate. Verification is available only if you want it.
- Unlimited messaging. We don’t impose a general character limit; say what you need to say.
What we collect (and what we don’t)
- No routine content logging. We don’t log your chat content beyond what’s needed to deliver it live.
- No background email harvesting. If you skip email or use an alias, that’s respected.
- Minimal technical signals. Basic connection data (e.g., IP, user agent) may transit for abuse protection, but we avoid storing more than necessary.
Privacy-first by design
- VPN-friendly. You’re encouraged to connect over VPN or privacy networks.
- Transparent operations. We explain how the service is set up and keep patch notes public so you know what changes.
- User choice. Features like email verification are opt-in, not forced.
How we keep things fair
- No message throttling for normal use. We aim to avoid arbitrary rate or length limits; only abuse protections apply.
- Community safety. We reserve minimal logging or mitigations solely to stop spam or attacks, never for profiling.
If you have questions about how we operate or want more detail on our privacy posture, reach out via the contact page—transparency is part of the promise.
